Goodwood Festival of Speed

The ultimate bucket-list event for every car enthusiast!
Located in the picturesque South-Western part of England, near Chichester, this magnificent event truly has it all! From classic cars to futuristic concepts, and everything in between. Hypercars, race cars, F1 cars, and motorcycles – the list goes on and on.

I've been fortunate enough to attend this event for several years now, and every year it continues to amaze me with something new.
The Duke of Richmond is the gracious host of this spectacular event, which takes place right in his backyard at the iconic Goodwood House. The house stands as the centerpiece, surrounded by lush green lawns where all the stunning cars are displayed. And the best part? Most of the cars race up the famous Goodwood Hillclimb, aka the driveway, adding an exhilarating element to the event.
Every year I attend, the event seems to grow bigger and better. My first experience was in 2018, when I was still relatively new to this part of the car scene. Since then, I’ve made it a point to attend whenever possible, and in my opinion, the last two years have been the best ones so far.
I love the blend of familiar cars and the excitement of new models and brands joining each year. For me, this event is not only about the cars but also about connecting with people, creating new contacts, and catching up with friends from all over the world. It's the perfect combination of automotive passion and community.
It’s not just the cars that make this event special; it’s the people who bring it to life.

Attending the Event

It has always been, and most likely always will be, an exhausting event. But it’s one of those experiences that leaves you thinking, “How did I even manage to see all of that?”
I’ve never attended the full four days in a row. In my first year, for example, I only attended on Thursday – which, as I’ve come to learn, is the quietest day of the event. However, even Thursday has gotten busier over the years.
While it’s possible to experience the entire event in a single day, it will require sacrifices in terms of what you can see and do. That’s why I would highly recommend attending for at least two days to fully enjoy the event without feeling rushed. It makes the experience far more enjoyable and manageable.

Photography at the Event

One of the things I truly love about documenting the Goodwood Festival of Speed is that it’s not just a static event. I’m passionate about capturing cars in motion, and this event offers endless opportunities for that. On the other hand, taking pictures of cars in the paddocks or on the lawns can be tricky. It’s hard to get a clean shot without either resorting to Photoshop or waiting for long periods for the perfect moment.
One crucial tip I’d offer: Try to arrive as early as possible to capture some great static shots before the crowds gather.

Would I Recommend the Goodwood FoS?

Short answer: Absolutely!
Long answer: If you're a car enthusiast and have been considering attending the Festival of Speed, I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Yes, the event has become more expensive over the years, but it has also grown in size and quality. I’ve been attending for several years now, and I’ll continue to make it a priority to go every year. It’s not just the incredible cars – it’s the people you meet along the way that make the event unforgettable.

For me personally: As I have attended the Goodwood FoS several times now, I would also love to attend the Goodwood Revival one day...

The ICE St. Moritz

Yes, this extraordinary event takes place on a frozen lake!
Set in the breathtaking Engadine Valley in Switzerland, the International Concours of Elegance St. Moritz is one of the most iconic automotive events in the world!
It's all about classy cars, timeless beauties and having fun drifting around on the Lake.

A Lifestyle Event?

In many ways, yes – but it’s an event for everyone. Whether you're a passionate car enthusiast or simply someone who enjoys the atmosphere, this event has something for you!
It caters to a wide range of attendees, no matter the reason for your visit.
I've been fortunate enough to attend this magnificent event several times. My first experience was in 2022, when it was still a smaller gathering and actually free of charge.
Watching a Ferrari 250 GTO and a Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta drifting on the frozen lake was something I will never forget!
Since then, the event has gained tremendous recognition and has become a must-see for anyone who not only loves cars but also wants to immerse themselves in the lifestyle surrounding them.

Photography at the Event

The ICE is one of the best events for capturing both cars and lifestyle photography. As the cars glide (and sometimes drift) across the lake on the Saturday of the event, it offers the perfect opportunity to take stunning photographs against the backdrop of the Engadine mountains.
While the paddock can sometimes be tricky for capturing the cars, it’s an ideal setting for capturing the lifestyle and vibrant energy of the event as well.

Would I Recommend the ICE?

The event has certainly become more expensive compared to previous years, especially considering my first time attending was free. Does that mean you should skip it? Absolutely not! I would still highly recommend attending. It’s such a unique experience, and it's well worth it. However, be quick to secure your accommodation, as it fills up fast.

Fuori Concorso by Larusmiani

Picturesque villas, the breathtaking Lago di Como, and extraordinary cars – that’s what Fuori Concorso is all about.
Next to the shores of Lago di Como, a remarkable event has taken shape over the past few years, coming close to perfection.
Fuori Concorso is an event alongside the prestigious Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

Tranquility at Its Finest

This magnificent event is all about the cars, the people, and the lifestyle. Each year, a new theme is introduced, adding a unique touch to the experience.
The first time I attended was for "Porsche – Sonderwunsch and Concept Cars" in 2022. It was one of my more spontaneous adventures, as I received an invitation just two days before the event.
Since then, I’ve attended every year, witnessing the event grow and evolve. It is a static event, with the cars displayed in the gardens of historic villas, creating a truly unique atmosphere. The villas include the public Villa Olmo and the private Villa del Grumello and Villa Sucota.

Photography at the Event

First of all, Fuori offers a unique way of attending – by applying for a photography accreditation, which grants free access. It is also possible to buy normal tickets.
Although capturing clean shots of the static cars can sometimes be challenging, the presence of people often adds a unique touch, bringing the scene to life in an authentic way.

Would I Recommend Fuori Concorso?

Absolutely. Whether you are passionate about cars, love photographing them, or simply want to experience the refined lifestyle, this event has something for you.
I would also highly recommend planning an extra day to explore Lago di Como – one of my all-time favorite lakes in Italy.

Fuori has more to offer

The Fuori Concorso is the main event, at the Lago di Como, however Fuori also offers further events. In 2023 I got invited to one of these events in Milano, celebrating 50 years of the Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer. And in 2025 there will be a Fuori Rallye through Italy...

Pagani Raduno

The Pagani Raduno is an annual rally held somewhere in the breathtaking landscapes of Italy. Over the course of several days, participants drive along picturesque roads, stopping at historical landmarks and staying in stunning hotels along the way. It’s an exclusive gathering of Pagani owners and enthusiasts from all over the world.

In 2024, I had the privilege of experiencing one day of the Raduno. I was in Italy on holiday with friends when, by coincidence, the event was taking place at the same time. Attending a Raduno had always been a dream of mine, but with reliable information being hard to come by, it took us a few days to figure out how to catch a glimpse of it. In the end, we managed to join in when the rally stopped in Florence. The highlight? Seeing the breathtaking red Pagani Zonda Cinque Roadster up close. A friendly member of the Pagani crew went out of his way to entertain my non-car-enthusiast friends, even inviting us inside the villa where the cars were staying for a closer look. Shortly after, the convoy set off on their drive—an unforgettable sight.

Photography at the Raduno

Photography is certainly possible, but it’s important to respect the owners' privacy. That being said, what more could you ask for than the perfect combination of the Italian countryside, winding roads, and some of the most spectacular cars in the world?

Attending the Raduno

The event is private and highly exclusive.

Concorso d'Eleganza vdE

An event that every true car enthusiast dreams of attending.
Held across two stunning villas on the shores of Lago di Como, the Concorso d'Eleganza might just be the most exclusive car event in the world. Securing tickets for Villa d’Este is notoriously difficult, but there is still a way to experience its magic.

On the final day of the event, early in the morning, most of the cars make their way from Villa d’Este to Villa Erba, navigating through the narrow streets of Cernobbio in a breathtaking parade.
Once they arrive at Villa Erba, the cars are displayed on the picturesque lawns surrounding the villa. Unlike Villa d’Este, this part of the event is open to the public and surprisingly affordable.
I have attended this event twice now, and each time has been an unforgettable experience. However, my ultimate dream is to one day witness the event inside Villa d’Este itself.

Photography at the Event

Be sure to arrive early on Sunday morning, as this is a rare opportunity to experience and photograph the cars in motion as they drive from Villa d’Este to Villa Erba.
Later, the cars will be displayed statically at Villa Erba. Since this part of the event is open to the public, capturing clean, unobstructed shots can be challenging. However, you can use the crowd to your advantage—incorporating people into your frames can result in dynamic and extraordinary images.

Would I Recommend the Concorso d'Eleganza?

If you have the chance to attend Villa d’Este, absolutely—it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
If you attend Villa Erba, be prepared for crowds, but rest assured—the selection of cars is always spectacular.

Brunei Enzo in Melbourne

Yes, this Ferrari Enzo is a one-off in stunning Matte Nero Opaco, formerly owned by the infamous royal family of Brunei.
During my first trip to Australia in 2022, I had the incredible opportunity to visit what was then Dutton Garage, now known as GG Classics. There, I had an unforgettable photoshoot with this very Enzo.
GG Classics is an absolutely phenomenal showroom and dealership in Melbourne—arguably the only truly remarkable dealership in Australia. When I visited, they had some utterly mind-blowing cars, many of which, unfortunately, I am not able to share.

Would I Recommend Visiting GG Classics?

If you ever find yourself in Australia, make sure to visit this showroom—it's an absolute must for any car enthusiast.

RM Sotheby's Paris 2025

The world’s most renowned exclusive car auction house, RM Sotheby’s, has done it again! In Paris 2025, they hosted one of their major auctions, with the legendary Ferrari 250 LM stealing the spotlight—fetching an astonishing €35 million before fees.

Beneath the historic Musée du Louvre, this prestigious auction took place. Surrounded by one of the world's most celebrated art museums, a different kind of art changed ownership—some of the finest automobiles ever built.

But that’s not all… This year’s auction also featured a one-of-ten Bugatti Centodieci, the unique Koenigsegg Agera "X", and a track-focused Pagani Huayra R—an incredible lineup that made the event even more special. My Experience at the Auctions This was my first time attending the auctions around Retromobile Paris (more on that in another blog post), and it was truly phenomenal. In addition to RM Sotheby’s, I also visited the Bonhams auction at the Grand Palais—a surreal venue for yet another breathtaking sale.

Photography at RM Sotheby’s and Bonhams Paris

Capturing photos at both auctions is possible, but it can be quite challenging due to the crowds. The Grand Palais offers a more spacious setting, making it slightly easier to get clean shots of the cars.

Attending the Event

Keep an eye out for the public viewing days when both auctions allow visitors to attend for free. If you happen to be in Paris during Retromobile, I highly recommend visiting both auctions—it’s an unforgettable experience for any car enthusiast!

Retromobile Paris

If you don’t want to travel all over Europe to visit the best car dealerships and showrooms, then Retromobile is the event for you. Most of the major and renowned dealers make their way to Paris for this show, showcasing their finest stock of classic and exotic cars.

It’s the only indoor show I attend on a yearly basis, simply because the quality of cars on display is surreal. Unlike traditional auto shows that focus on modern cars from major OEMs, Retromobile highlights what the world’s top dealerships have to offer—a fascinating blend of vintage, classic, and contemporary automobiles. It’s also a great place to find rare memorabilia. My first visit to Retromobile was one of the most spontaneous trips I’ve ever taken. I saw on Instagram that my all-time favorite car—one I had never seen in person before—would be at the event. The very next day, I booked my tickets, and the day after that, I hopped on a train to Paris with a friend. That year, the show was impressive, but not necessarily mind-blowing—except for one stand: Simon Kidston’s incredible display celebrating 20 years of the McLaren F1. But for me, the true star of the event was the McLaren F1 GT—XPGT!

Over the years, I’ve watched Retromobile grow and evolve. More and more top-tier dealerships, such as Joe Macari, Fiskens Cars, Girardo & Co., and Messina Classics, have joined the event, bringing an ever-increasing selection of exceptional cars.

Photography at the Event

There’s no sugarcoating it—getting good shots at Retromobile is nearly impossible. The halls are packed, the lighting isn’t great, and the surroundings aren’t particularly photogenic. However, with a bit of creativity, you can still capture some cool motion blur shots of people walking around the cars. While they may not be my best photos, they do manage to capture the unique atmosphere of the event.

Should You Attend Retromobile Paris?

One thing I haven’t mentioned yet is the auctions (more on that in another blog post). If you can make it to Paris during the week, you’ll have a better chance of enjoying the show without the weekend crowds. But even if you can only attend on the weekend, I’d still say—go for it. It’s an amazing indoor event at a great price.

And let’s not forget—it’s in Paris! I always use it as an excuse to explore the city. Paris is one of my favorite places (but more on that in another blog post!).

Supercar Owners Circle

The most exclusive supercar owners club in the world. The SOC hosts events across the globe, with one standout gathering serving as the main event each year.
Since the main event’s location changes almost annually, I have had the privilege of attending two SOC weekends so far—Andermatt in 2019 and Gstaad in 2020.

Should You Attend?

If you ever get the chance, don't hesitate to take part in this extraordinary event. The two times I attended were absolutely mind-blowing—an insane concentration of hypercars in one place.
Following the events in Switzerland, the SOC has also hosted editions in Croatia and Italy. If possible, I will definitely try to attend another SOC Weekend in the future.

Photography at the Event

Since this is a dynamic event, it's a fantastic opportunity to capture high-energy, action-packed shots of the cars. However, you’ll need to be familiar with the planned driving routes to get the best shots.
